Manon Schonewille

Experience

Throughout four continents, Ms. Schonewille has trained professionals in the advanced use of mediation and negotiation techniques, especially in inter-‐- cultural environments, and consults with corporations and governmental organizations in conflict management and setting up ADR programs. In addition to being an Accordence Consultant, she is founder and partner in a dispute resolution and deal making training and resource center (Toolkit Company) and a commercial mediator and Deal Facilitator at Schonewille & Schonewille Legal Mediation in Amsterdam, with a specialty in B2B and cross-‐-border mediation. Besides this she is president of a foundation board of a conflict management research and knowledge center (ACB Foundation).

After graduation of the law faculty of Groningen University in the Netherlands, Ms. Schonewille worked in international marketing and business strategy in several countries for multinational organizations among which were Nestlé and Schering. Here the foundation was laid for her interest in international negotiation, deal strategy, and conflict management.

She completed Negotiation and Advanced Negotiation courses as part of the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School and completed the credentialing program at the National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC) in San Diego. Ms. Schonewille also participated in the project “Rethinking Negotiation Teaching” a multi-‐-year effort of Hamline University to critique contemporary negotiation pedagogy and to create new training programs for a second generation of global negotiation education.

Besides being a frequently asked speaker at international conferences and a guest lecturer at various universities, she publishes regularly and is an author of several books. She is the immediate past co-‐-chair of the International Committee of the Dispute Resolution Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) and is member of the Independent Standards Commission of the International Mediation Institute (IMI). Ms. Schonewille is also Chair of the IMI Mediation Advocacy Task Force. She is fluent in Dutch, English, and German.
